Rainmaker Hatield: Placa Conmemorativa
Compañeros, esta es la placa conmemorativa a
la vida de Charles Mallory Hatfield, quien inundara
con lluvia Ocean Side, por allá por 1915 si bien
recuerdo...
El texto de la placa hace referencia a este hecho. En su vida, Hatfield tuvo mas de 500 tormentas contratadas con éxito en diversos lugares donde
habían sequías. Sin duda fue el Rain Maker mas
famoso de la historia.
Trabajo durante ocho años por ejemplo, para los
mineros.
En su honor se hizo la pelicula The Rainmaker,
protagonizada por Burt Lancaster y Katerin Hepburn
en 1916. En español se la conoció con el nombre de
"El Farsante". Se lo invito al estreno de la pelicula.
Nunca se supo cuales eran los químicos que juntaba
(cerca de 22) que entreveraba y producían un olor
muy fétido y luego, a las pocas horas de sacar las
tapas, se elevaban a la atmósfera y producian
copiosas lluvias.
El escritor premio nobel Saul Bellow a la par hizo un libro también llamado The Rainmaker y
personajes como Darren McGavin protagonizaron
tambien obras de teatro con ese mismo nombre en
memoria de estos personajes.

So, not too far from here is this memorial for Charles Hatfield the Rainmaker (Charles Who the What? you say? Yeah, exactly. That's pretty much what I said too...!) Evidently this guy fancied himself a rainmaker, and along with his brother Paul he was hired by the City of San Diego during a drought in 1915. The brothers built a 24-foot tower at Lake Morena, sprinkled secret rain-potions all around, and shortly a deluge began that caused the Morena Dam to burst and vast areas of San Diego County to be flooded. about twenty people were killed and the Hatfields were forced to leave town without the $10.000 they were supposed to get paid by the city. Charles HatfieldRain, Rain, Go AwayLately, I've had weird random things pop up suddenly into my head. Things that I've seen before, somewhere, but don't remember exactly where. A couple days ago, there was Bolo Ball (see also some screenshots), but just now, it was Charles Hatfield. Hatfield was a modern American alchemist of sorts. His particular field was weather modification. From his Wikipedia biography:
